North America has lost over 30% of its birds since 1970. The decline continues.
Minnesota Bird Coalition is fighting back—targeting the top threats: habitat destruction, cat predation, and window collisions.
TARGETED ACTION FOR BIRDS
Birds delight us, inspire us—and they’re disappearing.
MNBC takes targeted action on the top threats: habitat loss, cat predation, and window collisions.
We focus where the science is clear—and where our efforts make the biggest difference for birds.
HABITAT DESTRUCTION
Our Programs
CAT PREDATION
Each of these three threats has dedicated programs designed to make real change—at homes, in neighborhoods, and in communities. Explore our programs to see how you can take action.
WINDOW COLLISIONS
Learn why birds hit windows and what you can do at home to stop it.
GET ON THE MAP
Birds need safer skies—starting with your windows.
Every year, over a billion birds die from window collisions, and nearly half of those happen on homes. Join our interactive map to show where change is taking flight. Whether you’ve treated one window or your whole house, your action matters—and it inspires others to do the same.
LIGHTS OUT ALERT MINNESOTA
Each spring and fall, millions of birds pass over Minnesota during nocturnal migrations. Light pollution turns this natural journey into a deadly obstacle course. MN Bird Coalition is launching Lights Alert Minnesota, a statewide partnership uniting organizations, cities, and individuals to protect migrating birds. The network will issue real-time alerts on nights of peak migration, urging Minnesotans to turn off unnecessary lights to keep birds safe.

Minnesota Bird Coalition’s Mission
The Minnesota Bird Coalition is dedicated to protecting and preserving birds in their habitats in Minnesota by addressing the major threats faced by bird populations today.
MN Bird Coalition advocates and raises awareness about window collisions, habitat destruction, and the threats that free-roaming domestic and feral cats pose to wild birds.
