What to do if you Find an Injured Bird
Not Sure What to Do?
Finding an injured or seemingly abandoned wild animal can be upsetting, and knowing when (or if) to step in isn’t always clear. In spring and summer, many young birds leave the nest before they can fly and may appear to be in trouble—but often, their parents are nearby. When in doubt, the experts at the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center (651-486-9453)can help determine the best course of action and guide you in providing the right care—or letting nature take its course.
Fledgling American Robin: Robins leave the nest about 1 week before they are able to fly. While they looks completely helpless and alone, their parents are still feeding them and looking after them. This is one reason it is critically important to keep cats inside and refrain from feeding feral cats.
